SNAP is a program of United Cerebral Palsy of the Golden Gate, a non-for-profit 501 C-3 organization. Donations to SNAP are tax deductible. Click on the DONATE NOW button to the right.

SNAP serves 55-60 children per week on a shoestring budget of approximately $30,000 per year. We are fiscally responsible. Your donation goes a long way to making our program possible and gives us the chance to expand. We hope to reach more children in our local community and build a model for other communities to implement so that more deserving children can benefit.

A donation of $20 provides a 45 minute lesson for a special swimmer, $200 provides a semester scholarship and $500 provides a yearly scholarship. SNAP aims to raise $15,000 per year for scholarships. Additional funds will help us grow our services and help more kids.

SNAP receives approximately 40% of it’s income through program fees with the balance coming from donations. Over 50% of our families receive financial assistance through our scholarship program. As we feel that financial need should not be a barrier for a child to participate, we turn to our community to support our swimmers and program so that we may continue to carry out our mission and serve our special swimmers.

A full 95% of donation funds received go directly to program delivery with our overhead costs being minimal. Your tax deductible donations are needed, much appreciated, and used to provide services directly to our swimmers and programs.

The lion’s share of our support comes directly from individuals who care about the children we serve and our mission to provide access to fitness, recreation, health, and social opportunities for children with special needs. SNAP would like to thank all the individual donors past and present for their  financial and in-kind support and encourage you to become a sustaining donor as your donation makes a significant difference in our program.

We’d like to acknowledge past and present agency support from: Starbucks Community FoundationChildren’s Support League, Eggster, Computer Courage,  Hotel DurantBerkeley YMCA,  Palo Alto Family YMCA , Kids With Dreams,  Hillel at Stanford, Kazan Foundation Physical Therapy Innovations,  Bright Path Therapists , Speech Pathology Group.  Should you know of a group who may want to support SNAP, please let us know. Thank you!

Future Plans

We have many ideas that we would like to develop and implement. With your support we would like to:

  • Continue our scholarship program for all who request assistance ($15,000/yr)
  • Additional Equipment ($1,000)
  • Update our technology capabilities with on-line registration, web content for training, and scheduling ($5,000)
  • Develop and implement a teen/young adult program for our graduates ($5,000)
  • Develop new training materials including videos ($5,000)
  • Train our staff to better serve our swimmers and families ($2,500)
  • Bring SNAP style programs to other communities ($10,000)
