SNAP is a program of our fiscal sponsor United Cerebral Palsy of the Golden Gate, a non-for-profit 501 C-3 organization. Donations to SNAP are tax deductible. Click on the DONATE NOW button to the right.

SNAP serves 75 children per week on a shoestring budget. We are a fiscally responsible agency. Your donation goes a long way to making our program possible and gives us the chance to expand. We hope to reach more children in our local community and build a model for other communities to implement so that more deserving children can benefit.

A donation of $100 provides a 5 lessons for a special swimmer, $500 provides a yearly scholarship $1,000+ helps us bring Water Magic to our swimmers each week. Additional funds will be used to help build the reserves needed to update our use of technology, provide outreach and training, and open new locations in order to serve more amazing children.

A full 95% of donation funds received go directly to program delivery with our overhead costs being minimal. Your tax deductible donations are needed, much appreciated, and used to provide services directly to our swimmers and programs.

SNAP receives approximately 40% of it’s income through program fees with the balance coming from donations. Over 50% of our families receive financial assistance through our scholarship program. As we feel that financial need should not be a barrier for a child to participate, we turn to our community to support our swimmers and program so that we may continue to carry out our mission and serve our special swimmers.

The lion’s share of our support comes directly from individuals who care about the children we serve and our mission to provide access to fitness, recreation, health, and social opportunities for children with special needs. SNAP would like to thank all the individual donors past and present for their  financial and in-kind support and encourage you to become a sustaining donor as your donation makes a significant difference in our program.

We’d like to acknowledge past and present agency support from: Starbucks Community FoundationChildren’s Support League, Autism Speaks,  Berkeley YMCA,  Palo Alto Family YMCA , Kids With Dreams,  Stanford Community Partnership, and City of Richmond Office of the Mayor.  Should you know of a group who may want to support SNAP, please let us know. Thank you!

Future Plans

We have many ideas that we would like to develop and implement. With your support we would like to:

  • Continue our scholarship program for all who request assistance ($15,000/yr)
  • Additional Equipment and Supplies ($1,000)
  • Swimmer and Volunteer Recognition Awards ($5,000)
  • Update our technology capabilities with on-line registration, web content for training, and scheduling ($15,000)
  • Develop and implement a teen/young adult program for our graduates ($10,000)
  • Develop new training materials including videos ($25,000)
  • Bring SNAP style programs to other communities ($10,000)
