Our Director
Our Director, DORI MAXON PT, PCS, MEd, is a physical therapist who has earned recognition by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) as a pediatric clinical specialist. She has been honored with the Tsunami Award from the Aquatic Therapy and Rehab Institute (ATRI). Dori has been involved in providing aquatic services to a variety of populations since 1978. In 1991 she founded the Special Needs Aquatic Program (SNAP) which provides aquatic physical therapy and adapted aquatics services to infants, children, and adults in a community setting.
Dori is an ATRI certified aquatic therapist and has been a Red Cross water safety instructor since 1978 and an adapted aquatics instructor since 1983. She is an instructor trainer for teachers of adapted aquatics through the Aquatics Council of the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and is a certified instructor for the Arthritis Foundation and Aquatic Exercise Association. She is also a certified WATSUTM practitioner. Dori received a Master's degree in Perceptual and Motor Development from George Washington University and a Master's degree in Community Health and Physical Therapy from Old Dominion University. Dori has presented at annual aquatic therapy symposiums in the United States and Europe, hospitals, clinics, and community centers in the U.S. on the topic of pediatric aquatic therapy.
